Hello Fellow Heroes!
We started our unit on heroes of the Bible last week with a study of Moses. This week we'll be doing a bit of time-travel to just a little before Moses' time. This week we'll be studying about Joseph. Joseph is a good example of someone who can obey God. He's also a good example of someone who can persevere. Persevere is just a big word that means, “keeps on going”. Sometimes in movies and comic books a hero will be beat down by the villain time and time again but he keeps getting back up. Then, just when you think he's got nothing left, he gets a surge of renewed power and is able to overcome the villain who then screams, “NOOOOOO! That's impossible.” Joseph just kept trusting God to take care of him.
Joseph is also one of the best examples of integrity (in-teg-ri-tee). Now, that's another fancy word that means being truthful and honest in everything you do. He was thrown in prison for something he didn't do. But he didn't seek revenge, he looked to God and God not only saved him but blessed him and made him the second most powerful man in the world at that time. Don't take my word for it, get out your handy-dandy Bible and look it up. It's in Genesis 41-47. Have your mom and dad help tell you the story.
I want to give you a mission this week. Try to reinforce your integrity. That means that whatever your doing this week, be as honest and truthful as you can be. Whether it's playing a game, or obeying your parents or older siblings. Integrity also means not talking mean about other people or saying the words, “I hate....” Try it. I promise you it'll make things a lot better.
With a lot of love,
Mr. David.
