Do you have a secret identity?

 

Hello fellow heroes!!

Almost all super heroes have a secret identity. Superman is Clark Kent, Spiderman is Peter Parker, Batman is Bruce Wayne. Did you ever wonder why they have a secret identity? Most of the time it's to protect their loved ones from the bad guys. Did you know that some times we Christians have secret identities? We like to do great and wonderful things for others without their knowing about it. If I see a car parked at a meter in the city and the time is about to expire, I'll put a few coins in. If I see something on the floor of a store that has fallen off the shelf, I'll put it back up. Now, I'm telling you these things, not because I want to brag. No, I'm telling you as examples for you to follow. There are many accounts of this in the bible. One really good one is the poor widow in Mark 12.

⁴¹ Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. ⁴² Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. ⁴³ So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; ⁴⁴ for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

She did not put in her money to impress who ever was watching, she did this because it was right and her heart and spirit told her to.  You can practice your "secret identity" work this week by doing something without being asked. Now that doesn't mean do something your not SUPPOSED to do or have been told NOT to do. No, it means help your mom with laundry by picking up your own clothes and taking them to the laundry area and then find your own clean clothes and fold and put them away. Help dad by picking up the yard or sweeping the walk or driveway. Help grandma by asking if you can help with some chores around her house. Any time you see a need, do it. Load the dishwasher, clean the bathroom, make your own lunches for school, do all your chores before you are asked to. Any way you can, be a hero. Well, that's it for this week. Remember this Sunday is FAMILY SUNDAY! No kids celebration. We all get to worship together in big church. I'll have some activity booklets for everyone.

Hello, heroes. This week we will be having a special guest appearance by fellow heroine, Karina Escalante. She will be talking to us about the wonders of God's sky at night. She will present some really neat stuff that you may not know about the stars and planets. Please give her all of your attention and let's show her how heroes really behave.

Who is Your Hero ? David

Hello, fellow Heroes.

First off, some important news. We will not be meeting in the Fortress this Sunday as usual. Instead, we will be downtown in the square, where all heroes seem to do battle. Although, we won't be doing battle exactly in the super hero manner, we will be doing battle in the Christian way. That is we'll be battling in the spirit through prayer and worship. I've taken a page from the 40 days with Jesus book and applied one of its missions here.

 

Our next Bible hero is David. We often think of the account of when David killed the giant Goliath. We don't see too many real giants any more, but giants don't always have to be people like Goliath. A giant can be a big problem in your life. Ask God to show you the biggest problem in your life and at your school. Here's a list to help you identify those.

Lying

Cheating

Anger

Fighting

Disobedience

Divorce

Problem with a friend

Parents out of work

Problems at home

Ignoring God for the world

Stealing

Now these aren't the only ones by far. Pray for the things listed or make your own list. As you pray, believe that God is sending His angels to work in your school and at home and your city.

Here is a practical and neat way to remember to pray every day for these things. Find a rock. Not a big one, just one in your driveway or yard that is about the size of your fist or smaller.  Set it beside your bed or bathroom sink or somewhere where you will see it often. Like the rock that took down Goliath, it will serve to remind you that your prayers are taking down all the giants in your life. Prayer can change things!  Read 1 Samuel 17:45-47.

Who's Your Hero Week 6 Hannah

Hello, fellow Heroes.

Let’s pretend that there is something you want really, really bad. Let’s say it’s a bicycle, or an Xbox. You’ve asked for it before, but you’ve never gotten it. Then one day you decided to make a promise, (we talked about that word last Sunday) to your mom and dad that if they gave you an Xbox that you would keep it for 1 week and then give it away to another kid. They said yes, and now the only way you can play it is to go to that other kid’s house and play it there.  That would be kind of tough.

 

Well, this week we’ll be talking about a woman who made a promise to God if He would give her what she wanted. Do you know what that something was?  Hmmm, I could tell you right now but I’d really like you and your parents to go and look it up yourselves. You can find it in 1 Samuel of your bible.  In the meantime this week, I’d like you think on things that you do have. Do you have a home, food, family and a bed to sleep in?  Sure you do. Do you think we should be grateful for these things? Yes. When you say your prayers this week at bedtime or before your meals, be sure to thank God for His wonderful blessings. And be sure and thank Jesus for keeping His promise to take away our sins
