First-time Visitor? RELAX! No one is going to call on you publicly to identify yourself, but we do want you to know that you are welcome, and we are very glad you would join us!
What’s really going on here? Essentially, Gateway is all about impacting our world for Christ—person by person, family by family, through intentional, Spirit-driven ministry—good news to thousands, whatever it takes! From this campus in Woodfin, Christ is being magnified through changed lives and applied truth from God’s Word.
How do I keep up with what’s going on? We are expanding in every way conceivable and communication is KEY! So, what’s available for you includes an up-to-date online calendar, printed bulletins each Sunday, and announcement postings at key areas (bulletin boards and restrooms). Other vital means of communication are our website (www.gccchurch.org), GCC Online Community, and emails. Once you give us your email address you will receive regular ministry updates, and of course you can opt out at any time for any reason. We also keep our homepage up-to-date with information and links that will help you stay informed.
I am interested in what you believe. Do you have a statement of faith? Yes, but it is NOT a checklist of Do’s and Don’ts to see if you qualify to join our club. We call it the Pastors’ Statement of Faith because it forms the basis from which the pastoral team ministers to every regular attender and newcomer through prayer, teaching, and pastoral care. Click here to view a copy of the Pastors’ Statement of Faith.
If I have young children, where do they go? We encourage families with children to worship together because it is vital for children to observe their parents’ response to God in worship. We also recognize the validity of Spirit-driven, age-appropriate expressions of worship as well. That’s why we strive to provide the best of both opportunities and we leave the choice to you. We offer Christian Life Classes for all ages at 10:00am, Kids Celebration for ages 2-8 at 11:00am, and Nursery care for infants up to 23 months at both times. If you prefer your family to worship together, please be aware of those around you and feel free to exit the auditorium with your child if necessary.
If I want to contribute financially, how do I do that? For your convenience, there is a wall box near the main exit of the auditorium and another outside the office in the main corridor. Please deposit your gifts in either of those boxes before or following the Sunday Morning Celebration. The use of the available envelopes is also very helpful. You may also donate securely online through GCC’s PayPal account. Using PayPal, you may set up recurring contributions or make one-time donations completely secure and convenient.
How can I make a difference? God uses ordinary people to change the world and impact the lives of others. You can make a difference and take the next step in your spiritual journey by getting involved in serving.
Why should I volunteer? God has called every believer to serve. When you serve Him using the gifts, passions, and abilities He has given you, you’ll find joy and fulfillment in knowing you’re making a difference that lasts for all eternity.
Who can volunteer? If you move and breathe and have a willing heart, you can volunteer at Gateway.
When can I begin? Now! Although some positions do have prerequisites, many of them are looking for willing and able volunteers to help out right away.
How do I get involved? First, celebrate the prospect of discovering “abundant life” as a Christ -follower with others who will challenge and champion you along the way. Next, look for opportunities to use your gifts, passions, and abilities. Here is a listing of ministries that are available to you:
Click here for a listing of specific roles and the skills necessary to fulfill them. Some opportunities, such as volunteering in Children’s and Youth ministries or leading small groups, have a qualification process. But many opportunities have no prerequisites or long-term commitments. These are called First-Serve opportunities. You can learn more at the next Newcomer’s Gathering. First-Serve - First-Serve opportunities encourage volunteers to explore various roles and participate in a variety of activities until they find a ministry area where they feel at home. Anyone is welcome, even first-time guests. Click here to check out the First-Serve opportunities available to you. Newcomer’s Gatherings - Our Newcomer’s Gatherings, offered in January, May, and September, are low-key, casual and brief presentations of information you will find essential about how and why we do what we do at Gateway. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of the leaders and meet others who are making the same decisions in following Christ, choosing a place of worship and a new church family.
